ONE LINERS

Man's way leads to a hopeless end.
God's way leads to an endless hope.

A lot of kneeling will keep you in
good standing.

He who kneels before God can stand
before anyone.

Don't put a question mark
where God puts a period.

Are you wrinkled with burden?
Come to the Church for a face lift.

When praying - don't give God
instructions - just report for duty.

Don't wait for six men to take you to Church.

We don't change God's message.
His message changes us.

Worry is the darkroom in which
negatives can develop.

Never give the devil a ride -
He will always want to drive.

WORDS

The six most important words are: "I admit I made a mistake."
The five most important words are: "You did a good job."
The four most important words: "What is your opinion?"
The three most important words: "If you, please!"
The two most important words: "Thank You!"
The least important word is: "I."
IT TAKES COURAGE...
To refrain from gossip when others
about you delight in it.
To stand up for an absent person
who is being abused.
To live honestly within your means
and not dishonestly on the means
of others.
To be talked about and yet remain
silent when a word would justify you
in the eyes of others, but which
you cannot speak without injury
to another.
To be a real man, a true woman,
by holding fast to your ideas when
it causes you to be looked upon as
strange and peculiar.
To refuse to do a thing which is
wrong, though others desire it.
To live always according to your
convictions.

COMPLAINING
Sure, this world is full of trouble -
I ain't said it ain't.
Me, I've had enough and double
Reason for complaint;
Rain and storm have come to fret me,
Skies are often gray;
Thorns and brambles have beset me
On the road - but say,
Ain't it fine today?
What's the use of always weepin'
Making trouble last?
What's the use of always keepin'
Thinkin' of the past?
Each must have his tribulation -
Water with his wine;
Life, it ain't no celebration,
Trouble - I've had mine -
But today is fine!
It's today that I am livin'
Not a month ago.
Havin'; losin'; takin'; givin';
As time wills it so.
Yesterday a cloud of sorrow
Fell across the way;
It may rain again tomorrow,
It may rain - but say,
Ain't it fine today?

THE BOOZE BAR

A bar to heaven, a door to hell,
Whoever named it, named it well.
A bar to manliness and wealth,
A door to want and broken health.
A bar to honor, pride and fame,
A door to want and grief and shame.
A bar to hope, a bar to prayer,
A bar to darkness and despair.
A bar to honored, useful life,
A bar to brawling, senseless strife.
A bar to all that's true and brave,
A bar to every drunkard's grave.
A bar to joy that home imparts,
A door to tears and aching hearts.
A bar to heaven, a door to hell,
Whoever named it, named it well.

THE PRAYER OF A FATHER
Build me a son, O Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid. One who will be proud and unbending in defeat, but humble and gentle in victory. A son who will know that to know himself is the foundation stone of all true knowledge. Rear him, I pray, not in the path of ease and comfort but under the stress and spur of difficulties and challenges. Here, let him learn to stand up in the storm... here, let him learn compassion for those who fail.
Build me a son who will master himself before he seeks to master other men. Build me a son whose heart will be clean, whose goal will be high. One who will learn to laugh. Yet, never forget how to weep. One who will reach into the future and yet never forget the past. And after all these are his, add, I pray, enough of sense of humor so that he may always be serious yet never take himself seriously. A touch of humility, so that he will always remember the simplicity of true greatness, the open mind of true wisdom, the meekness of true strength. Then, I, his father will dare in the sacred recesses of my heart to whisper: "I have not lived in vain."

DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH
A diamond in the rough
is a diamond sure enough.
For, before it ever sparkled,
It was made of diamond stuff.
Of course, someone must find it
Or it will never be found;
And then, someone must grind it,
Or it will never be ground.
But when it is found
And when it is ground
And when it is burnished bright,
That diamond is everlasting,
Flashing out its radiant light.
O Christian, please, who ever you be,
Don't say you have done enough,
That worst man on the street may be,
A diamond in the rough.

(A VOICE IN THE WILDERNESS)
He who knows not, and knows not
that he knows not is a fool, shun him.
He who knows not, and knows
that he knows not is a child, teach him.
He who knows and knows not
that he knows is asleep, wake him.
He who knows, and knows
that he knows is wise, follow him.
(Unknown)
A person who knows and believes
by the doing His Will is wise.
His works and words are God's,
believe in him and we are on the right track.
