ATTENTIVENESS

Attentiveness helps us to recognize the meaningful
from the meaningless. In fact our souls are hungry
for meaning more than anything else. "Our souls
are hungry for meaning, for the sense that we have
figured out how to live so that our lives matter, so
that the world will be at least a little bit different
for our having passed through it." [Kushner]
REFLECTIVE DISPOSITION

Your soul suffers if you live superficially.
People need times in which to concentrate
when they can search their inmost selves.
It is tragic that most men have not achieved
this feeling of this self-awareness. And finally
when they hear the inner voice they do not
want to listen anymore. They carry on as
before so as not to be constantly reminded
of what they have lost.
[Albert Schweitzer]
THE MATCHSTICKS

The match sticks were looking for the light
as it was so inside the match box. They
decided to get out of the matchbox in order
to look for the light outside. One day, a man
struck one matchstick into light. The match
stick was so surprised to discover that
the light is right inside itself. He returned
to the matchbox and told the other matchsticks,
"Do you know that we have to get out of the matchbox
to discover the light? There is light in each one of us."

There is a light within us. We have to bring it out
for others to see.
WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

Consult not your fears
But your hopes and dreams.

Think not about your frustrations,
But about your unfulfilled potential.

Concern yourself not with what you tried
and failed in, but with what is still possible
for you to do. (Pope John XXIII)
EMPOWERING BELIEFS

When doubts are replaced with faith;
When mistrust is replaced with trust;
When fear is replaced with acceptance,
Then it is easier for us to grow into what
God has envisioned us to become: FULLY
ALIVE PERSONS.
THE POWER OF THE MIND

"Fill your minds with everything that is true,
everything that is noble, everything that is good
and pure, everything we love and honor, and
everything that can be thought virtuous or
worthy of praise." (Phil 4:8-9)

We are what we think.

Change your thoughts and you change the world.
RAISING OUR STANDARDS

Raising our standards often has something
to do with changing one's attitude. Life has
taught us that there are situations and
circumstances we cannot control. There
are people who could not be persuaded
to change. But there is something
we can control and change and that is
the way we respond to certain situations
or persons.
Make a choice: "Two roads diverge in
the woods, and I, I have chosen the less
travelled by ... and that made all the
difference."
RIGHT ATTITUDE

There are three ways in which a man can go about
performing a good deed. If he says "I shall do it soon,"
the method is poor. If he says, "I am ready to do it now,"
the method is average quality. If he says, "I am doing it,"
the method is praise worthy.
SOAR HIGH

Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm
is approaching long before it breaks? It is said that
the eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for
the winds to come. When the storm hits, it sets
its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it
up above the storm. While the storm rages below,
the eagle is soaring above it. The eagle does not escape
the storm. It simply uses the storm to lift it higher.
It rises on the winds that bring the storm.
If we keep our ideals high, we soar high like an eagle
even in the midst of the storms of life. It is not
the burdens of life that weigh us down; but the attitude
that we have when we handle them.
